Saputara Hill Station
— Hill station, Dang district
Gujarat's only hill station, which tells you both everything and nothing. In the monsoon (July–September), when the Sahyadri hills are green and the waterfalls are running, Saputara is beautiful. In the summer, it's just less hot than Ahmedabad, which is not the same thing.
The drive from Ahmedabad is around 4 hours via Surat on NH-48. The road into the hills from Waghai is genuinely lovely — forest, waterfalls in season, roadside tribal art. Saputara town itself is unremarkable but the surrounding landscape is not.
Stay options have improved significantly since 2022. A couple of boutique resorts have opened in the Dang tribal villages below the plateau, which are better than the standard hill-station hotels in town. Book the village resorts in advance for monsoon weekends — they fill up.
